Product Description
Drager Polytron 8100 EC d A 4-20/HART Relay Gas Transmitter (8344404) is an explosion-proof fixed gas detection transmitter designed for monitoring toxic gases and oxygen in industrial environments. It uses Drager Sensor® electrochemical technology to detect a specific target gas according to the compatible sensor installed. The transmitter provides a 3-wire 4–20 mA analog output and HART® digital communication for integration with compatible industrial monitoring and control systems.
This relay-equipped configuration features three integrated relays: two for adjustable gas concentration alarms and one for fault indication. A backlit graphic LCD and three status LEDs provide clear information about gas readings and device status. Its powder-coated, copper-free aluminum housing is designed for suitable hazardous-area installations. Additional flexibility is available through compatible remote sensor arrangements and optional software dongles for enhanced sensor diagnostics and testing. The Dräger Polytron 8100 EC combines electrochemical gas detection, industrial communication and local alarm-control capabilities in a fixed transmitter.

Features of Drager 8344404 Polytron 8100 EC d A 4-20/HART Relay Gas Transmitter
- Electrochemical gas detection: Uses compatible DrägerSensor® technology to detect a specific toxic gas or oxygen, depending on the installed sensor. Gas compatibility and measuring range must be confirmed against the sensor datasheet.
- 4–20 mA and HART® communication: Provides a 3-wire 4–20 mA analog output with HART® communication for connection to compatible monitoring and control systems.
- Three integrated relays: Includes two adjustable gas concentration alarm relays and one fault relay for controlling compatible external equipment, such as signal lights and audible alarms.
- Backlit graphic display: Displays gas concentration, selected gas type, measuring unit and device information. Three status LEDs—green, yellow and red—provide additional operating and alarm indications.
- Explosion-proof aluminum housing: The “d A” configuration identifies the explosion-proof transmitter with an aluminum housing. Installation must comply with the applicable hazardous-area classification and certification requirements.
- Remote sensor option: A compatible remote sensor arrangement allows the sensing head to be positioned separately from the transmitter, helping accommodate difficult-to-access monitoring locations.
- Digital device management: HART® communication supports remote interrogation of transmitter status and integration with compatible asset management tools.
- Expandable functions: Compatible software dongles can add sensor self-test and advanced sensor diagnostic functions. The built-in data logger records gas readings and events according to Dräger’s product documentation.
