Drager PEX 3000 Type XTR 0001 (8318360) is a fixed gas transmitter designed for continuous monitoring of flammable gases and vapours in ambient air. It uses catalytic bead sensor technology to detect gas concentrations below the lower explosive limit (LEL) and converts the measured concentration into a standard 4–20 mA signal for connection to compatible gas detection controllers and monitoring systems.
The XTR 0001 is the 100% LEL order variant and is supplied with a sensor in a medium-sized housing. Dräger’s technical product information specifies a measuring range of 0–99% LEL for this configuration. The transmitter operates on a 12–30 V DC power supply, with 24 V DC as its nominal operating voltage.
The Drager PEX 3000 uses a catalytic bead sensor based on the heat-tone measurement principle. Its sensor contains catalytically active beads on platinum coils (pellistors). When flammable gas reaches the sensor, the resulting reaction heat changes the electrical resistance of the platinum coils, producing a measurement signal proportional to the gas concentration.
The transmitter features a glass fibre reinforced polyester (GFRP) housing with IP66 protection. For calibration and maintenance, a two-digit 7-segment display and two operating keys are accessible inside the opened enclosure. The device also provides maintenance and fault signals through its 4–20 mA output arrangement.
